POSITION HIRTSHALS

Art, craft and applied craft in Hirtshals.

POSITION HIRTSHALS

Three women, each combining craft with art or art with craft, have joined forces to highlight the value of art, craft and applied craft in Hirtshals.

Together they stand behind POSITION HIRTSHALS, which will serve as a focal point for their activities.

Kunstkort Hirtshals is the group’s first project and is presented on Friday 19 June from 13:00 to 15:00 at a reception at Tanjas Blomsteratelier, Vodbindervej 2 on Hirtshals West Harbour.

The POSITION HIRTSHALS initiative has been in development for some time among the three artists: Tanja Nielsen, Laila Pallisgaard and Joan Grønfeldt.

There are many thoughts and ideas, and now Kunstkort Hirtshals takes shape as the three join forces with additional artists who contribute to the first project.

Three cards, each in two sizes, are ready. This is being marked and celebrated.

The wish to make cards and similar items more inviting led to thoughts of the prescription envelopes of earlier times.

Pharmacies once made these small envelopes exciting and beautiful by placing a photo or painting on the front.

Now POSITION HIRTSHALS shines a light on the town with works by Hirtshals artists Laila Pallisgaard, Inger Mortensen and Chr. Hansen on Kunstkort Hirtshals.

The cards are sold exclusively by Joan, Tanja and Laila.

The first 3 artists

Inger Mortensen

Inger Mortensen

Image-making and experimental art

Born 15 September 1957 and raised in Rajen, Hirtshals.

Inger Mortensen describes her art as image-making and experimental. For more than 25 years she has developed her talent and explored widely.

Her creativity was rooted in a childhood home where drawing and painting were part of everyday life.

She is inspired by sky and sea, and by the many impressions around Hirtshals Lighthouse, the beach and the harbour.

Her female motifs develop through the process and invite reflection. She works with many tools and materials, and her colour combinations both provoke and calm.

Laila Pallisgaard

Laila Pallisgaard

Visual artist with atelier, gallery and course venue

Born 24 September 1963 in Horne, Hirtshals.

Laila Pallisgaard is a visual artist with her own atelier, gallery and course venue. She is self-taught and works with painting, drawing, collage and much more.

With a background as a teacher, including visual arts as a main subject, she moves freely through art.

Nature, light and the raw maritime environment around Hirtshals are key sources of inspiration.

Her workshop and gallery in Hirtshals function as a living, working atelier where visitors can meet finished works, works in progress and exhibitions.

Christian Hansen

Christian Hansen

Light, colour and atmosphere

Born 28 February 1948 in Hjørring and raised in Hirtshals.

Christian Hansen’s artistic path has taken him from the strict discipline of typography, through a lively satirical line, to the sensitivity now found in his watercolours, pastels and oil works.

Light, colour and atmosphere are characteristic of Christian Hansen.

From a sharp, commenting line he has developed a calm and sensuous visual language.

His works often take their starting point in distinctive personalities, nature and life around Hirtshals.
